About the Department

The department offers an undergraduate and two post graduate programmes in addition to research programme leading to Bachelor, Master and Doctoral Degrees. The department has well qualified, experienced and dedicated faculty, skilled technical staff and well equipped laboratories. It is recognized as a Continuing Education Programme centre to train Departmental Engineers of Government of Karnataka since 30 years. The department has been always in the forefront in taking R and D activities and Industrial Consultancy services.

To create high quality Civil Engineers by imparting knowledge and excellence in Civil Engineering and Technology with global perspectives and inculcate professionalism and work ethics in them for building a strong nation.

Department Mission

a) To nurture Civil Engineers with competent technical skills, professional and ethical values for serving the society at global level.
b) To transform the department into a centre of excellence in the field of Civil Engineering along with other allied research areas.
c) To provide knowledge based consultancy services in all the fields of Civil Engineering and to inculcate innovation and design thinking for serving eco-friendly, sustainable and durable infrastructural construction practices to face future competitiveness.

Program Education Objectives (PEO)

The graduate students will, after completion of 4 years of BE Civil Engineering Programme;
PEO1: To acquire knowledge in Mathematical, Scientific and Engineering fundamentals.
PEO2: To analyse and Design Civil Engineering infrastructure with social concern and responsibility.
PEO3: To execute professionalism in ethical values, communication skills, team work in their profession and adopt to modern life long learning skills.

Program Specific Outcomes (PSO)

PSO1: Survey map, plan and mark layouts for buildings, bridges, Industrial buildings and other infrastructures
PSO2: Specify, analyse, design, test and access different Infrastructures with quality and safety
PSO3: Plan analyse and design water resources structures, roads, Airports, harbours and other infrastructures with sustainable considerations.
PSO4: Select and use appropriate engineering techniques and software tools to analyse civil engineering problems with understanding of limitations.
PSO5: Able to understand impact of engineering solutions on society and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development.

4. Ph.D. / M.Sc (Engg.) by Research in Reinforced concrete structures, Earthquake Resistant Design Of Structures, Geotechnical Engineering, Advanced Concrete Technology, Transpiration Engineering, Environmental engineering, water resources engineering including RIS and GIS.
